We eat food to provide energy and nutrition for our cells in our body. Food comes from plants and animals. Healthy food contains the protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals that sustain growth, repair, and vital processes and supplies energy to our cells. Healthy food comes from plant sources such as fruit, vegetables, grains, seeds, legumes (beans, peas, lentils, etc.), herbs, and spices. We also get some healthy food from pasture raised animal sources such as meat, eggs, and dairy products. Also, from seafood especially those found in the oceans.

When I search “food” on Amazon, the first thing that shows up is candy followed by a myriad of processed foods. I find it fascinating that these things especially candy are labelled as food. They are certainly NOT healthy food. The same is true in the grocery stores. There are so many processed foods and only a few aisles of healthy food.

The assimilation of the food materials is called nutrition. If our bodies are under stress, we may not assimilate the food and therefore not get the nutrition that we need from the food. If we don’t chew the food properly, we may not assimilate it. Or if we have sensitivities or allergies, we may have malabsorption. The quality of the food affects how much nutrition we get from the food. Early harvesting, transporting, storage, cooking, freezing, canning, over processing, refining, and pasteurization all affect the nutrient values.

What has happened in the last 100 years is that food produced by farmers or gardeners has been changed by industrial processes (the food industry). This means that processed food usually contains several natural ingredients and food additives (such as preservatives, antioxidants, emulsifiers, flavor enhancers, etc.). Also, the soils have become depleted due to fast growing successive generations of food produced for the food industry.

Since the nutrients we need for our cells come from the food grown in the soil, this is not good news. The soil is so devitalized and food is not as nutrient dense as it used to be. Therefore, vitamins and minerals are not always present in our food.  If the soil is depleted then we are not getting the all the necessary nutrients into our cells. What the roots bring to the plant is what we receive when we eat the plant.

Bottom line, we need food to live. Our cells in our body won’t function properly if we don’t give them the nutrition that they need. The food is not as nutritious as it was before food became a business. Protein amino acids are not always present in a usable form in the food we eat. We are currently experiencing a food crisis. The current food is manufactured so much sometimes it is not really food anymore. especially candy. The way it is manufactured sets up addictions.  Manufactured food has become highly unnatural.

Thank goodness there is a movement afoot pointing to eating more real nutrient dense food and supplementing to counter our soil depleted foods. Our cells in our body need real food, clean water and oxygen. Cells are our lowest common denominator in terms of our health.  We have trillions of cells in our body and it is our job to keep them healthy. We do this through choosing healthy food full of nutrients, supplementing for nutritional insurance, drinking purified water and breathing in oxygen especially through exercising.

Good or poor health is determined at the level of the trillions of cells making up the human body. Vitamins, amino acids and trace elements are needed for the thousands of biochemical reactions taking place in each cell and chronic deficiency of these nutrients is the most frequent cause of cellular dysfunction.

Replenishing these cells with essential nutrients supports their bioenergy production and leads to optimal health. However, without adequate supplementation, the normal functioning of cells will eventually become impaired, resulting in poor health.

Cells lacking what they need, or exposed to something harmful, will malfunction.  When cells malfunction, diseases develop.  Disease is merely the effect of thousands of combinations of deficiencies and toxicities acting through a combination of inherited genes, the environment, and yes, even our thoughts, emotions, and beliefs.

The key is simple; everything you put into your mouth has consequences. What you eat and drink everyday has a direct result reflected in your current health and energy levels. When cellular resources deplete, the aging process begins to accelerate.

There are four key mechanisms of cellular aging:

1. DNA damage

Every day, every cell in your body is bombarded by up to a million DNA damaging assaults. These assaults can damage the cell’s genetic database, creating a “typo” that may compromise cell function and longevity.

2. Genetic Regulators

Genetic regulators contribute to age-related cellular deterioration.

3. Declining Cellular Energy Production

Mitochondria in our cells create energy we can’t live without. As mitochondria efficiency decreases cell function declines.

4. Accumulation of AGE Proteins

Excess accumulation of Advanced Glycation End products (AGE) can cause cellular damage that can compromise cell integrity and longevity.

We need to counter these four key mechanisms in order to have good health. These four aging mechanisms are what leads to degenerative diseases and poor health. I am sure if you look around you will see lots of people who are not well. Maybe you are one of them.

Here are some questions to ask yourself.

Are you asking “Is what I am putting in my mouth going to nourish me?”

Are you giving your cells what they need every day?

Do you take antioxidant complexes or a single antioxidant?

Do you drink purified water?

Do you exercise at least three times a week?

Do you take in enough fiber to allow your digestive system to operate efficiently?

Do you ensure that your cells are fed to an optimal standard?

In short, do you have nutritional insurance?
